Exceptional Children’s Week

Blog Image Exceptional

Baker Elementary PTA is celebrating Exceptional Children’s Week March 5th – 9th, 2018.  The Exceptional Children’s Committee addresses the needs of diverse learners in the school community by fostering awareness of special education between the district, school, parents, and children.  Please, join us in celebrating our exceptional children and their educators throughout the week.

  • All Baker students will have the opportunity to participate in a school-wide banner celebrating Baker’s diversity.
  • Wednesday, March 7th, please”Spread the Word to End the Word.”  Teachers are encouraged to eliminate the “R-word” in their classrooms.  Language affects attitudes and attitudes affect actions.  Pledge with your family at http://www.r-word.org.
  • Thursday, March 8th, wear blue to show to show your pride for Baker’s diversity.
  • The media center will have books and media available on amazing individuals with disabilities.  Students have the opportunity to learn that everyone has the power to achieve, including individuals with:  Down Syndrome, Tourette’s Syndrome, Asperger’s, Autism, OCD, ADD, dyslexia, food allergies, and physical disabilities.
