2016-2017 has been a great year for Baker Elementary PTA.  

PTA is made up entirely of family, staff and community volunteers.  PTA is only possible because of the contributions of people like you.  

Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers and donors who share their time and resources to help every child reach their potential.

Staff Appreciation Week

  Next week, May 1st – May 5th, Baker Elementary will celebrate staff appreciation week.  Please consider having your child write a note or create a small token of appreciation for the teachers and staff that have an impact on their school experience.  

To all of our teachers, admin, office staff, cafeteria & custodial staff, bus drivers, campus officers and everyone who works to help our children reach their potential…

Reach for the Stars After School Program Needs Your Input

  Reach for the Stars is one of the after school programs offered at Baker Elementary and other local schools.  The current proposed federal budget eliminates all funding for after school and summer care programs.  RSP is one of the 21st Century Community Learning Center programs that is funded through federal subsidies and will be eliminated if the budget passes as is.  Please take a moment to learn more about the program, upcoming legislation and how you can share your suggestions with your legislators.

Pre-Order Your Annual Spring Carnival Wristbands

Baker Elementary PTA will host the annual Spring Carnival on

May 6th from 11:00 – 3:00. carn

 Tickets are $8.00 through April 28th.  $10 at the door.  The carnival will feature inflatables, a trackless train, DJ, balloons, face painting and much more!  For more detailed information View The Spring Carnival Flyer.

Proposed Bylaw Amendments

  The Baker Elementary PTA Executive Committee proposes the following bylaw amendments.  They were first announced at the general membership meeting on March 30, 2017.  A general member vote will be held on Saturday, May 6th during the annual Spring Carnival.  Please bring your PTA membership card.

Article VI: Section 1.

“The officers of this PTA/PTSA shall consist of… 1 first vice president and 1 second vice president;”

Reasoning:  A mandatory change to come into compliance with Georgia PTA bylaws.

Article VI: Section 8.

There shall be a nominating committee…who shall be elected by this local PTA/PTSA at a regular general membership meeting, in February, at least one month prior to the election of officers, as outlined in Article VI, Section 3.

Reasoning: To update the wording for clarification.

 Article XVI: Section 1.

“The fiscal year of this PTA/PTSA shall begin on June 24 and end on the following            June 23.”

Reasoning:  The Cobb County school calendar has moved up several weeks since the bylaws were originally written.  Moving the date will allow future PTA committees a more appropriate length of time for planning.
